Digestive Health
Digestive Health Testing
Digestive health is complex, and is a critical aspect of human health.
Our mainstream medicine offers options such as endoscopies, and colonoscopies, which are useful tools, however unfortunately many digestive complaints go poorly managed as there is limited ability to look at functional aspects of the system, like stomach acid levels, pancreatic function or microbiome health.
At Verdure, we know the importance of digestive health, and we are pleased to offer a variety of options to best suit our patients needs, and health concerns.
Our digestive testing options are:
- Food Sensitivity Testing
- Parasite testing
- Microbiome tests
- Comprehensive digestive stool analysis
- Breath testing for H. pylori and Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)
Food sensitivity testing
Our nutritionists use a variety of options, including IgG assessments and MSAS bio-meridian assessments. Bio-meridian assessment provides a detailed report at the time of the appointment and the cost is included in the visit fee.
Our naturopathic doctors use IgG food sensitivity testing. This testing uses a blood sample to check for many different foods and the immune reaction to those foods found in the blood. The results take about 2 weeks turn-around time, and the cost is not included in the visit fee.
There are limitations and benefits to each type of food sensitivity testing, and our team can happily discuss these with you to guide your best option.
Parasite Testing
Available through our nutritionists and naturopathic doctors.
Parasites are quite common and can cause serious health consequences if left untreated. Stool testing and bio-meridian testing options are available.
Microbiome Tests
The microbiome is the make-up of the bacteria, yeasts, parasites and viruses that reside within our intestines, urinary tract, lungs, ears, skin, and uterus.
This area of medicine is vastly expanding and has a growing body of evidence connecting imbalances in bacteria with diseases such as autoimmunity, diabetes, mental health disorders, fertility, menstrual health, and obesity.
Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis
This stool testing looks at 4 key parameters of digestive health: imbalance, indigestion, insufficiency, and inflammation.
This testing offers a look at the microbiome, and assesses the organs of digestion, and levels of inflammation of the colon.
This testing can be helpful for people dealing with IBS, IBD, autoimmune disease and more.
Breath Tests: H. Pylori & SIBO
This testing uses timed breath samples, usually 90–180 minutes of testing, following ingestion of a specialized solution in order to test for H. pylori and SIBO: small intestine bacterial overgrowth.
This testing assesses for output of specific markers found in the breath, signalling an infection of the stomach or an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine.
